The Rundown: Batman investigates murders connected with mysterious and mythical items.

Batman continues his battle against the League of Shadows in the city in order to find out why they are killing people who purchase a series of strange artifacts. Artifacts that lead Bruce to fund an expedition into the frozen wastes. At the same time, the Queen of England is roused from her sleep by someone creeping around under her castle.

As Bruce continues to put the pieces together of what the League could be after, the Queen dispatches her agent John Constantine to investigate the matter for her while Bruce’s expedition comes across some dangerous creatures and a mysterious warrior woman trying to stop them.

The Story: Diggle beautifully fleshes out this world in a story that captured my imagination from start to finish. I love returning to this world and its characters as Diggle crafts a wonderful mystery that kept me engaged with every page and panel. I love that the world is expanding and how Batman’s involvement in this mystery takes new and unexpected turns. There is some great action in this story and I look forward to seeing where this tale goes next.

The Art: Fernandez does a fantastic job of capturing the look of the previous adventures in this world while giving this one a unique and compelling look. A wonderfully detailed and visually engaging story.
