The Rundown: Selina escapes from custody with a personal mission and Batman’s relationship with her becomes more complicated.
Selina has escaped from custody and both Dick and Helena are trying to figure out her next move. What they don’t know is that Selina has decided to take the Joker’s body and send a message to both her daughter and Gotham City. A message that will be dramatic and public.
In the past, Selina’s friendship with Joker continues to complicate her relationship with Bruce as she knows what Joker is planning, but refuses to lift a finger to help Bruce or Joker’s victims. The tension comes to a head when Bruce confronts her after another killing spree and she returns to Joker looking for absolution. In the same past, Joker and Phantasm pay a visit to a family during the holidays. A family with a connection to Andrea.
The Story: King continues to weave an intricate and intriguing story in this issue. Bringing Bruce and Selina’s relationship to the precipice it comes to is great drama and every moment is filled with tension. That same tension continues in the Andrea/Joker moments because you have no idea where things are going and each moment keeps you on the edge of your seat. The future storyline is interesting as well and Selina’s dark turn is riveting.
The Art: Liam Sharp delivers some impressive and beautifully detailed imagery throughout the issue. The moody, dark tone of the art is perfect for the tone of the story.
