The Rundown: Batman and Robin head to Dinosaur Island on the hunt for an old enemy.
After learning that Bane is alive and has seized Dinosaur Island, Batman and Robin race to the island to track down their mutual enemy. After having to crash on the island itself, the duo discover they are being watched by an old friend of Damian.
After learning that Bane is on the island and is systematically taking out anyone who comes to its shores, Robin finds himself unable to hold back his anger as he sees the man who killed Alfred standing right in front of him.
The Story: Williamson creates some fun tension in this issue mixed with moments that are implausible and a little cringe worthy. The beginning of this arc is starting to feel annoyingly like the last one with Batman acting as a passenger in Damian’s adventures. There are some interesting interpersonal dynamics at play and definitely acts as a vehicle for Damian to deal with his own issues with Bane, but I don’t know if that’s going to be enough to keep me invested. The father/son dynamics continue to be interesting at least, but the reveal at the end of this issue made my eyes roll.
The Art: Ferreyra delivers some entertaining art in the issue. The visuals are engaging and have some great thrills throughout.
