The Rundown: Batman attempts to find a base of operations to work out of, but Joker’s reach is wide and getting wider.
Years ago, Batman and Alfred discuss the Joker and Bruce’s inability to predict who and what the clown wants. All he does know is that Joker has a plan and Batman is the target of it.
With everything in Bruce’s life crumbling, Batman will find that no where is safe, especially Wayne Enterprises. After torturing Lucius, Joker and Punchline know the location of all of Bruce’s hidden caves in the building and Punchline confronts the Dark Knight in one that he might not make it out of alive.
The Story: James Tynion IV, in one issue, has established that the Joker War will be fought differently if Batman has any chance of winning. Everything Bruce has been able to count on is gone and Joker seems to just be getting started not only stripping Batman of his gadgets and caves, but also going after Bruce on an emotional level. The story is emotional and full of tension throughout. It’s dark in a way that removes all hopefulness and it will be interesting to see just how dark Tynion IV can take it and if he has a plan on how to pull it back.
The Art: Jorge Jimenez delivers some amazing art throughout this issue. The characters look awesome and the action is both visceral and full of energy. There are some disturbing visuals to be found and they perfectly capture the dark tension of the story.
