The Rundown: Bruce takes on Zur to ensure that only one Batman remains in Gotham City.
In his past, Bruce continues his training including a session that will inevitably create the persona of Zur that is currently controlling Gotham from Blackgate prison. In the present, Robin attempts to escape from the Zur/Failsafe’s version of Robin as Bruce assembles his family and tells them the entire truth. A truth that will require them to trust him as well as his plan to stop Zur and his former mentor.
While Batman and the others begin their assault, the Mayor contacts Commissioner Savage who has called in Amanda Waller for help dealing with the siege of Gotham as well as the Bat Family members fighting in the streets. A battle that will end in death for one and the end of another.
The Story: Zdarsky crafts some great action and thrills in this issue. The arc has been building to some interesting interactions with Batman and those around him and I like seeing how those interactions begin to unfold. The story culminates in some entertaining moments including the reveal of the new Robin as well as the final showdown with Zur which is handled in some delightfully clever ways.
The Art: Jimenez delivers some beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. The visuals capture awesome action and emotion throughout.
