The Rundown: Bruce Wayne goes into hiding as the new Batman continues to solidify his plans.
Bruce has escaped from Blackgate, but Gotham and everywhere he knows is dangerous so he heads to a place Zur might not know about. Somewhere he can reflect on what’s happened and plan his next move. A plan that will require something Zur has been keeping him separate from, his family.
At the same time, Vandal Savage has become the new police commissioner and the new Batman makes an appearance. An appearance that will get the attention of Amanda Waller forcing a confrontation between the two. A confrontation that will accelerate Batman’s new plans and doesn’t allow for the inclusion of Damian as Robin.
The Story: Zdarsky continues to craft a dark and interesting journey for Batman in this issue. The story has some great action and a wonderful rise in tension with all of the events happening to Bruce, Damian and even the city itself. The tease of a bigger arc for both Zur and Waller is interesting and I enjoy where Zdarsky is taking Bruce personally in this arc.
The Art: Jimenez delivers some beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. The visuals are fun and exciting. There are so many great visual moments in the issue and I love the art style of this series.
