The Rundown: In the future, Batman battles a dangerous infection in Gotham while the past reveals more about the Joker.
In the past, Batman continues his investigation into the Red Hood gang and their missing leader leads him to not only investigating the chemicals that he was exposed to, but also the circumstances of his disappearance. At the same time, Gordon gets suspended and the Joker begins training under one of Bruce’s mentors.
In the future, Batman continues his investigation into the infection turning everyone in the city into Joker zombies. An investigation that will lead him to a familiar face and a faceoff with his own family.
The Story: I continue to be impressed with the new and interesting directions Zdarsky is taking the character. The story is impressive and contains a great mystery that keeps me engaged. Unfortunately, fleshing out the back story of Joker with this particular arc doesn’t connect with me. I feel no connection to it or the character and prefer to keep Joker the mystery that made him a menace.
The Art: Camuncoli and Sorrentino deliver some fantastic art throughout the issue. I continue to love the visual contrast between the two styles.
