The Rundown: Bruce takes to the streets of a new Gotham to deliver justice.
Bruce Wayne decides that the best way to help Gotham and find a way to return to his home is by taking up the mantle of Batman in a new and unknown city. After striking fear in the heart of Edward Nygma, his reputation grows and the Red Mask wants him brought in.
After digging up the remains of the Bruce Wayne of this world, Batman discovers something that could help him both stop Red Mask, but also get him home. After taking on Dent and his forces, Batman teams with this world’s Selina Kyle, but there partnership could lead him into a trap.
The Story: Zdarsky crafts an entertaining story that takes Batman back to his roots and core philosophy which is a good thing. I really enjoyed seeing the reaction to Bruce taking on the mantle in a new world that has no idea who Batman is and how that shapes his actions and their reactions to him. The plot is engaging and I look forward to seeing the mysteries within explored.
The Art: Hawthorne delivers some great art throughout the issue. The character designs and backgrounds look amazing and I love the visual tone of the issue.
