The Rundown: The origin of Failsafe is revealed, but it might be too late to save Batman or his family.
In the recent past, Bruce is confronted by Clark about his plans to take down the League if they ever go rogue and wants to know what Bruce’s plan is to stop himself. In the present, Bruce has donned a new suit and completely suppressed the part of himself that Failsafe seems to be targeting and Tim finds himself with the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh who reveals the truth behind the Failsafe program and why it was activated.
Failsafe returns to the cave to confront Bruce and Tim as the rest of the Bat Family finds themselves either dealing with their wounds or confronting a disaster meant to distract them. As Batman of Zur-En-Arrh takes on Failsafe, the android will find itself confronted by a familiar face who has arrived to stop it.
The Story: Zdarsky delivers an exciting, thrilling adventure in this issue. The story has some great action throughout and Zdarsky keeps the tension high while also brilliantly connecting the plot to one of the best storylines in DC Comics history. I love how it brings together some impressive elements and creates some engaging character moments.
The Art: Jimenez delivers some beautifully detailed and thrilling art throughout the issue. The action is fantastic and Jimenez beautifully nails the visual tone of the characters as well as the backgrounds.
