The Rundown: Batman and family find themselves facing an enemy with a connection to Bruce’s past.
Bruce catches up with Tim and tells him that he’s not ready to be back in the field. After returning home, he finds himself being attacked by a robot using his moves against him. Injured and desperate to escape, Batman takes the fight to the streets, but is unable to get away. Fortunately, the rest of the Bat Family arrives to give him cover and time to escape.
Things get more dangerous when the machine scans their equipment and gains access to their intelligence. A move that puts one of their allies in serious danger. Tim decides to bring Bruce back to the original cave where he goes in alone to bring out something that might help him turn the tide in the battle.
The Story: Zdarsky hits the ground running with the action and thrills in this issue. After taking the time to showcase the difference between himself and the family Bruce surrounds himself with, Zdarsky goes straight into bringing Batman to his knees with a threat that is different from what he’s faced in the past and is unique enough to keep me engaged throughout the story. I am truly excited to see what happens next after the intriguing cliffhanger ending.
The Art: Jorge Jimenez is a fantastic artist and brings a wonderful level of detail and energy to every page and panel in this issue. I am in awe of the art style and how thrilling it is.
