The Rundown: Batman and Robin team up to stop an old enemy from taking his revenge on the city.
Bruce Wayne is having nightmares. He makes a call to a familiar face and decides to finally move forward a little in the aftermath. He finds a distraction in a murder investigation as he tracks down a killer who has kidnapped old friends of Bruce Wayne’s and is holding them hostage. After taking out the killer, he discovers something dark as well as who is behind it.
When he and Tim discover who the next victims will be, they move in to stop it. Unfortunately, the duo will not make it out unscathed and Batman’s visit to the enemy who orchestrated a mass murder will leave him in a dangerous position with the Gotham police and the public.
The Story: Zdarsky crafts an entertaining and thrilling story in this issue. It does a great job of addressing the previous arcs for the character while forging a new story and mystery. There are definitely some moments I wasn’t expecting and I really enjoyed how the story adds a new level of drama and stakes to Batman’s mission.
The Art: Jorge Jimenez delivers some beautifully detailed and evocative art. The use of shadow is amazing and I love the character designs and kinetic nature of the action. A beautiful looking issue.
