The Rundown: Batman and Robin track a lead and Deathstroke puts his family in danger.
Batman and Robin travel to Blackgate to interrogate one of the false Deathstrokes that gave the Justice League some headaches. After discovering where they got their gear, it’s revealed that someone else was there who wanted something different and was not interested in their mission. After contacting Ghost-Maker, the duo head to Central City to find themselves face to face with their target.
At the same time, Deathstroke returns to the scene of the assassination with his kids to look at the scene with his own eyes. After discovering one of Batman’s allies on the scene, Deathstroke tries to get a message to the Dark Knight, but is interrupted by the return of Talia’s assassins using a new tactic. One that not everyone will make it out of alive.
The Story: Williamson keeps the tension and immediacy of the story going really well in this issue. The plot has a great mixture of mystery and action and the tension of Batman’s investigation and Deathstroke’s hunt for the truth are beautifully balanced. The story is engaging and the action is thrilling.
The Art: Porter does a great job of bringing out both the tension and the tone of the story with art that is wonderfully detailed and visually exciting.
