The Rundown: Gotham stands on the brink of not one, but two potential disasters as Batman and his allies work to save the city and its people.
The Magistrate’s forces have infiltrated Poison Ivy’s hidden garden beneath the streets of Gotham. Saint is unable to track his forces and the reason why becomes painfully clear when Ghost-Maker shows himself. Even with Ghost-Maker making short work of the Magistrate’s forces, an enraged Ivy decides it’s time to bring Gotham down and goes to work extending her plants throughout the city and its infrastructure.
At the same time, Batman and Miracle Molly are tracking the Mind Machine’s energy signature when the first earthquake makes them realize they are running out of time. Scarecrow decides to show Batman and Molly how adept he is with their tech and uses it on Molly. After an unexpected shot, Mahoney awakens with a new plan for Gotham and only Batman stands in his way. At the same time, Ivy gets an unexpected visit that could change everything.
The Story: Tynion IV brings a brilliant level of tension and terror to this issue. The story is engaging and the pace is fantastic. There is an element of danger on every page as both the Ivy and Scarecrow plots inch closer to reality. I liked the emergence of Mahoney a lot and what happens to Scarecrow genuinely surprised me in the best way. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
The Art: Jimenez delivers some visually thrilling moments throughout the story. The fights are brutal and beautifully detailed and the action is top notch.
