The Rundown: The Batgirls step away from the spotlight as they continue to hunt a sniper.

The Batgirls meet Officer Brooks in a surprising location where he delivers the latest news regarding Commissioner Montoya. As punishment, the Commissioner assigns him to duty at the site of a previous major crime. Later, at the Clock Tower, the Batgirls discuss ways to handle an escalating situation. Afterwards, Steph and Cassie head to the Gotham Dam and meet with an old friend who offers sage advice.

Sometime later, Officer Brooks is visited by someone with additional information regarding the sniper case. Meanwhile, at Clover Credit Union the Batgirls foil a robbery and Oracle comes up with a clever way to derail the GCPD’s hunt for the Batgirls. Finally, Grace O’Halloran starts a movement in honor of the Gotham heroes.

The Story: This interesting narrative delves into the concerns faced by vigilantism. I’ve always been fascinated by these heroes desire to do good for the community even when facing extreme adversity. Honestly, the easiest thing to do would be to leave Gotham to its own devices and show the GCPD what their own mediocrity. I was pleasantly surprised by the communities response to the Batgirls situation and can’t help but compare it to the protests of current times. I applaud the bold story telling in this issue and look forward to the continuation of the arc.

The Art: The illustration in this chapter is crafted in a realistic traditional design that features an intense color palette that varies by location and mood. The drawings are impressive and does much to deepen the overall story from an emotional and visual perspective.
