The Rundown: As the net gets tighter around the young lovers, things come to a violent head.
Tillie returns to Bix with a present for him. A present that signifies a future for the young lovers on the run. A future that is in jeopardy when they read the papers and discover that they are wanted for murder. At the same time, Zeke finds himself dealing with the aftermath of what Peyton did and becomes increasingly disillusioned with the case he’s working.
Tillie makes the bold move of leaving Bix to return to Peyton with the hope that he’ll leave Bix alone. Unfortunately, both Tillie and Zeke will discover the dark plans Peyton has for his wife. Dark plans that will lead to a daring and violent rescue that will end in murder.
The Story: A violent, action packed and thrilling entry from Snyder. It has great pacing and emotion like a classic film noir from the forties. The story continues to ramp up the tension throughout and you continue to care about these desperate characters and their circumstances. I love the evolution of Zeke in the story as well and everything in the finale makes me excited to see where and how the story ends.
The Art: Lotay creates some beautifully detailed visual moments throughout the issue. The visual style of the issue is breathtaking and I love the look of the characters as well as the world they inhabit.
