The Crown is an insanely popular series on Netflix and it has drawn some big names to take a trip through history to recount the early days of Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family.
Each season of the Netflix series is expected to take place during a decade in the Queen’s long and storied reign. Claire Foy, who played Elizabeth in the first two seasons of the series, recently took home her second SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama. Matt Smith played Prince Philip in the series and casting is underway for the next season of the series.
Actress Olivia Colman (The Lobster) will be taking over the sceptre from Foy for the next season as Elizabeth and Helena Bonham Carter (Oceans 8) has been cast as Elizabeth’s sister Princess Margaret, taking over for Vanessa Kirby. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paul Bettany is currently in talks to take over the role of Philip for the upcoming season. Bettany’s face is going to be featured a lot this summer as he is featured in both Avengers: Infinity War as Vision and an unknown role in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Season 3 of The Crown is expected to take place during the 70’s and 80’s, paving the way for the inevitable Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. A drama that fans of the series cannot wait to sink their teeth into.
