The Rundown: When a series of super villains are killed, Janet Van Dyne is called in to investigate.
One of Wasp’s villains, Whirlwind, is murdered in his locked cell on the Raft and Janet Van Dyne is called in by mayor Luke Cage to investigate his murder along with those of five more villains.
After deciding to take the case and deal with the strict rules of her investigation, Janet visits the facility only to be attacked by the seemingly dead inmates and rescued by one who believes he is an old friend of hers. What none of them realize is that a familiar face is behind the murders. A face with a direct connection to Janet Van Dyne.
The Story: Ewing crafts an interesting mystery in this first issue. I like how it is being set up as a launch for a new type of story for Janet and how it ties her together with Whirlwind in a new way. The mystery is good and there are enough twists within it to grab my attention. Also, the final reveal was great and makes me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Kirk delivers some great action in the issue. I love the visual style of the issue and how it looks like a classic detective comic.
