The Rundown: The Avengers fight a different kind of vampire threat while Shang-Chi goes on a secret mission.
A small town finds itself under siege by a group calling itself the Nightstalkers because the people of the town are vampires who were recently infected during Blood Hunt. As they are slaughtered throughout the streets, the Avengers arrive on the scene to protect the vampires from the murderous vampire hunters stalking them.
At the same time, Shang-Chi returns to the scene of the Avengers’ last mission to investigate a robbery. An investigation that will lead him to an encounter with a member of the Serpent Society. An encounter that will give them the first indication that there is a bigger plot unfolding around them as the Serpent Society prepares for their next move.
The Story: Orlando crafts a fun, brutal and thoroughly entertaining story in this issue. I was not expecting this story to have the kind of intensity and suspense that it does and every element of it works from the action to the characters. I think both parts of the story are strong with the intensity of the battles and Shang-Chi’s investigation adding more to the intriguing mystery at the heart of this series.
The Art: Ferreira delivers fantastic art throughout the issue. The villains are visually menacing and the action is as intense and suspenseful as the story itself.
