The Rundown: The Avengers attempt to protect Starbrand and Phoenix on a Wild West world.
On another Earth in the multiverse, a killer seeks out Mephisto to make a deal. A deal that will allow him and his men to take down the Starbrand and the Phoenix who have been stopping them from transporting slaves to the stars.
As the two heroes find themselves facing the forces of Mephisto, they find themselves getting some unexpected backup from Thor, Iron Man and others. As they fight off a band of killers, Tony Stark finds himself facing someone familiar.
The Story: The story is interesting and there are some entertaining moments within it. Unfortunately, there’s nothing particularly memorable about the plot beyond Stark’s interaction. The plot feels similar to other stories in the arc and there isn’t much to distinguish it from the others. Also, the western lingo felt really forced to the point of being cliché.
The Art: Garron delivers some great art in the issue and the rich environments and thrilling action make up for the bland elements of the plot.
