After taking on directing duties for the biggest blockbuster of the summer Avengers Infinity War and its upcoming sequel, the Russo brothers are lining up their next film.
According to Deadline, Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO studio is in exclusive negotiations for the rights to the novel Cherry from first time author Nico Walker. The brothers are eyeing this film as their next project after the release of Avengers 4 next year.
AGBO bid a million dollars for the novel which chronicles Walker’s return from serving as an Army medic in Iraq. Upon returning to the states undiagnosed extreme PTSD caused the former medic to fall into opioid addiction and robbing banks. Walker was convicted in 2011 and is scheduled to be released in 2020.
Hulu’s The Path creator and executive producer Jessica Goldberg will be writing the screenplay of the film while the Russo brothers continue to fine tune the upcoming release of Avengers 4.
