The Rundown: A series of surprising events and conversations causes Dr. Jacinta Joy to question both herself and those around her.

Dr. Joy finds herself caught up in a battle of her former patients as she makes a startling realization about herself. Soon she goes on the run with a macabre parting gift from the Ten Eyed Man. Elsewhere, Nocturna and Dr. Phosphorous offer assistance to a couple suffering from a mysterious disease. Afterwards, they spot Dr. Joy outside their home and invite her in for tea. There, Dr. Joy learns the Arkhamite escapees have surprising information regarding the ghost of Amadeus Arkham. Finally, a new presence emerges on the scene in Gotham. Meanwhile, Detective Stone’s recovery is interrupted by several unwelcome situations involving previous Arkham inmates.

The Story: Watters crafts an impressive narrative filled with character development and mystery. It has been interesting watching Dr. Joy navigate life after her experience with A Day. In this episode she finally starts to see her actions in a similar manner that the reader may have in earlier chapters of the series. There is a certain dialogue between Drs. Joy and Phosphorous that I found to be particularly insightful and well thought out. With only two issues left in this series, I am curious to find out how this plotline will wrap up, and what, if any, part will be left for Detective Stone to play.

The Art: The illustrations in this edition give off an eerie vibe that is perfectly matches the tone of the story. There is also a newspaper print effect used that also calls to mind classic noir, yet in a gothic setting. I am completely enamored with this style as I find that it is extremely emotionally connective to the tale.
