We are edging closer to the Warner Brothers/ DC Comics specific streaming service coming and there has been a new announcement about a new show added to its growing lineup.
According to reports in The Hollywood Reporter and others, Aquaman director James Wan has been brought on board to executive produce a new series based on the beloved comic book character Swamp Thing.
The script-to-series order (which means if the pilot script is good, it will be picked up to series) has been put into the hands of Mark Verheiden (Marvel’s Daredevil, Battlestar Galactica) and Gary Dauberman (writer of the IT remake and its upcoming sequel) to write and serve as showrunners for the new series based on the character created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson.
The live action series will focus on what happens when CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home in Louisiana to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. She meets and falls in love with scientist Alec Holland and in the midst of their investigation, he is killed. Abby soon discovers that there is more to the swamp than meets the eye and that the love of her life might not be gone after all.
DC Comics SVOD service is expected to launch in 2019.
