Speed Racer might be taking to the track again for another live action adaptation of the classic anime.
According to Deadline, JJ Abrams Bad Robot production company and Warner Brothers are working on a live action Speed Racer series that will come to Apple TV+.
Hiram Martinez (Snowpiercer) and Ron Fitzgerald (Westworld) are said to be writing the series for the streamer and will reportedly take it back to its 1960’s roots. They will also serve as executive producers and showrunners for the series.
This isn’t the first time Speed and his friends have made the transition from anime to live action. The Wachowskis wrote and directed a live action film version of the series in 2008 starring Emile Hirsch and Christina Ricci.
