The Rundown: Crypto and Mirage find themselves in danger after meeting a high tech developer.
After the devastating loss of a game, Crypto asks his teammate Mirage to accompany him on a meeting with a developer as backup. Once their, the developer makes an unusual request for his services. Before a decision can be made, Revenant shows up, and a deadly confrontation commences. Then, Mirage makes an unexpected decision that changes everything.
The Story: This comic is based on the battle royale video game of the same name, and features its playable characters. I really like that you can start this first chapter of the series with no prior knowledge of the game. This is perfect for those like me, who aren’t heavy gamers.
Jesse Stern has created an exciting tale filled with intrigue and danger. The narration is very well done and creates an immediate connection with the main character. I am very interested in how this plot-line will develop and can’t wait for the next episode.
The Art: Bold, brilliant color palates highlight Neil Edwards detailed drawings. An emphasis on character expression and form emotionally engage the reader. This is a beautiful and eye-catching issue that is sure to delight.
