The Rundown: The Beast gets closer to fulfilling its plans for the planet as the team finds itself facing betrayal.

The President is poised to make his biggest, most important speech to the country. Something he knows is ultimately meaningless because the time of the Beast is almost at hand and the efforts to stop it are ultimately meaningless.

At the same time, the remaining members of the team find themselves off the coast of Alaska looking for the hiding place of the one warrior who successfully fought the Beast and won. Knowing the dangers in trying to take the beings power, the chosen vessel Jim chooses two to come along with him. One of those two is his brother Skinner who is still dealing with the loss of his immortality.

As the team prepares for the ritual, an unexpected betrayal puts the mission and the world in jeopardy.

The Story: Not only does Snyder serve up some great emotional conflict throughout the issue as well as the threat of the Beast itself, but he proceeds to throw everything into chaos with a reveal that I didn’t see coming and did not expect. A reveal that changes everything about the finale of this series and I am excited to see how it plays out for the world of this story as well as Skinner.

The Art: Albuquerque delivers some impressive art throughout this issue. Not only are there great character moments, but there are some visually scary moments to be had.
