The Rundown: Ryder has a final confrontation with Death and learns some hard truths about herself.
Ryder’s journey has brought her face to face with Death itself. A confrontation that will see the former gunslinger demand more time with her husband and child. A demand that will force Death to show her the consequences of the life she chose and the lives she affected.
After giving her a chance to earn more time, Ryder does what she does best with her pistols in her hands. As she begins, she gets glimpses of lives she’s connected to and begins to understand the truth of her life.
The Story: Young crafts a brilliantly dark and bittersweet conclusion in this issue. There was a wonderful sense of inevitability throughout the series and everything comes together with an interesting and unexpected confrontation between Ryder and Death that I truly enjoyed. Young created a deeply engaging and compelling story in this series and as brilliant as the ending is, there is more I would love to see from this world and its characters.
The Art: Corona delivers some beautiful art throughout the issue. The visuals are strikingly detailed and beautiful as they perfectly capture the dark and hauntingly beautiful tone of the story.
