The Rundown: Ryder is close to her goal, but hunting death is not an easy task.
Ryder is getting close to her goal, but she is battered and injured and in need of rest. As she sits alone in a bar, she finds that she is not alone.
After following what looks like her child out into the storm, she can begin to hear the sounds of music. Music that will spur her into a dark moment that could lead her closer to her meeting with Death.
The Story: Young crafts a beautifully dark and melancholy story in this issue and manages to convey all of the emotions necessary for every moment without any dialogue. The story has conveyed the characters motivations and emotions in the previous issues so every look and camera angle conveys the emotion necessary for the scene. I love the gradual buildup of Ryder’s journey through this issue and how wonderfully it transitions to the cliffhanger ending.
The Art: Corona perfectly conveys the emotions of the characters as well as the dark tone of the story with beautifully detailed and compelling art.
