The Rundown: Claire continues to mourn while Rita has a harrowing adventure in the city.

As the family continues to find more unearthed Adventureman stories, Rita finds herself reading one about star crossed lovers and the complicated family politics keeping them apart. As she continues reading, her life calls when an emergency returns her to her job as an EMT where she hasn’t been having the best of luck.

As Rita attempts to save a gunshot victim in the street, she is attacked by highly skilled killers and must fight them off as she and her partner race to the hospital. At the same time, the story of Adventureman and the woman he loves becomes more relevant to their current situation as it inspires her to fight.

The Story: A tense, thrilling and fun adventure from Fraction. I love the world of this story and how it intercuts between the events and discoveries of the present and the fantastical adventures of the past. I like that Adventureman is a passenger in this story and how Catherine is given so much agency in her own story including how it resolves with her father and his challenge. I also really enjoyed the fast pace of the story and how it creates a great cliffhanger for Claire that I want to see explored.

The Art: Dodson delivers stunning visuals throughout the issue. The art is beautifully detailed and immersive both in the characters and the emotion of the story.
