The Rundown: Claire and Jim have one chance of stopping the Baroness and her forces from taking the city.
The city is under attack and Claire and Jim are the only ones standing in the way of the Baroness as she begins her assault. With Phaedra looking on and unable to help, Claire is hoping that Jim’s illusion will be enough to force their enemy to concentrate on them. Unfortunately, her forces split up as Baroness goes after Claire personally. As they continue the fight, Claire does something unexpected and Phaedra reveals her part in bringing back the legend of Adventureman.
As Baroness chides them for their failure, a new horror arrives and Claire’s family races to help her. As things start to get darker, Phaedra steps up and does something that will turn the tide in their favor. In the aftermath, Claire will look to her family as the new team of adventurers she’s going to need to help protect a new and changing world.
The Story: Consistently fun and inventive, Fraction makes this issue an engaging and entertaining romp. I continue to be impressed with these characters, the world being created and the story being told both in the past and the present. There is a fun energy to this series and this issue specifically that keeps me engaged and wanting to know and experience more. I cannot wait to see where this adventure goes next.
The Art: Dodson’s art is blisteringly beautiful. The details on each page are glorious and the style is brilliant.
