The Rundown: Leone unleashes a final assault against the Man of Steel as she prepares to disappear.
The walls are closing around Leone and in a last ditch effort to save her reputation, she prepares to unleash something that can finally take down Superman once and for all. After discovering there is more to Leone than meets the eye, she and Dr. Glory unleash a creature from the multiverse with a history with its world’s Superman. As Superman and his family search for the Invisible Mafia, Red Cloud and Glory put Leone’s plan into action.
What they unleash goes on the hunt for the Man of Steel and none of the Kent’s might be powerful enough to stop it. To make matters worse, Leone returns to the Daily Planet to reveal some devastating secrets about Superman and Lois.
The Story: Brian Michael Bendis has decided to expand the Invisible Mafia storyline into some interesting places. While the reveals are interesting, they are clunky in their execution. Everything in the Leone storyline was interesting and would have been compelling enough had they been explored effectively, but the creature storyline is distracting. There is so much happening in the issue that there is a lack of consistent focus and the things the reader should care about the most gets lost until it comes around in the end of the issue.
The Art: John Romita Jr.’s art has some good visual moments, but there are some perspective and detail issues that I couldn’t get past. They felt as unfocused as the story at times and were distracting at others.
