Prolific writer Aaron Sorkin has made some of the best drama on television with shows like The West Wing and The Newsroom. He’s even taken that success to the big screen.
The Academy Award winning writer of A Few Good Men, The American President, Moneyball and The Social Experiment is set to make his directorial debut with a new script he’s adapted to the screen.
Aaron Sorkin is set to direct the feature film Molly’s Game for STX Entertainment and the Mark Gordon Company. The film is based on the memoir Molly’s Game: From Hollywood’s Elite to Wall Street’s Billionaire Boys Club, My High-Stakes Adventures in the World of Underground Poker by Molly Bloom. The film will follow the rise of Molly Bloom, an Olympic-class skier who creates and manages a high stakes poker game that attracts the most elite of players. From Hollywood stars, business elites to Russian gangsters, Bloom spent a decade catering to her elite clientele until one day an FBI raid brought it all crashing down.
Molly’s Game is also sporting an impressive cast. Two time Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) is cast as Bloom. Idris Elba (The Dark Tower) will star as her defense attorney along with Kevin Costner (Man of Steel) and Michael Cera (Arrested Development) rounding out the cast.
Molly’s Game is set to be released in time for awards season on November 22, 2017.
