The Rundown: As Druig begins his assault on the mutants, a band of Eternals works behind the scenes to thwart him.
Druig has sent powerful Eternals called the Hex to destroy the island of Krakoa after sending Uranos to decimate the mutant colony on Mars. With the X-Men fighting the Eternals on multiple fronts, the small band of Eternals that left the Machine are developing a plan to stop the war before it gets any worse. Ajak attempts to enlist Phastos’ help, but he is leery of her plan and how convenient its timing seems to be.
At the same time, one of the Eternals decides to try a different tactic to stop the advance of Druig’s forces while the others collect the material they need to create a new Celestial. As the mutants get involved and find a momentary reprieve, the message of the new Celestial puts everything on pause and puts Druig in a difficult position as he attempts to hold onto power.
The Story: Gillen delivers some great tension throughout the story. The plot does a great job of filling in the blanks from the main Judgment Day storyline and the behind the scenes action and adventure is as compelling as the main story. I like how Ikarris is utilized in the story and the drama between Ajak and Phastos is entertaining.
The Art: Vilanova delivers some beautiful art throughout the issue. The characters look fantastic and the action is visually thrilling throughout.
