The Rundown: A couple who rose to fame after the loss of their daughter returns to the spotlight when another goes missing.

Emma and Chris Walker lost their child to a kidnapping and murder years ago and become media sensations in the wake of tragedy. As they prepare for their new daughter’s birthday, tragedy strikes again as the second child goes missing in the night. Nina, who always believed there was something wrong with the couple’s explanation for their daughter’s disappearance becomes the main suspect in the case with the detective from the original kidnapping leaning on her to confess.

Things become more complicated as Nina reluctantly teams up with Detective Martinez to unravel the mystery of the little girl’s abduction and discover the dark truth behind the original case and the media sensation that it made the parents.

The Story: Douek crafts an engaging and compelling thriller in this story. As a fan of murder mystery and revenge tales, this story has all of the elements that I really enjoy. There are great moments of suspense and the characters are dynamic and interesting as they navigate a mystery that takes some interesting and unexpected twists and turns. An enjoyable story from start to gloriously unexpected and well-crafted ending.

The Art: Russell Mark Olson creates some fantastic art throughout the issue. The visuals have a wonderful classic look to them as it perfectly captures the tone of the story and its darker moments.
