The Rundown: Anne takes to the seas to track down the men who betrayed her, but more betrayals await.
After her crew leaves she and Mary behind, Anne finds another that she plans to steal to catch them. Unfortunately, someone else was there to steal it first. Two women trying to escape have taken the vessel and one of them isn’t too keen on sharing it with Anne. As the authorities close in, the women decide to compromise so that they can get under way.
In Nassau, Rackham’s crew decides to turn him over to Rogers for the promise of pardons, but quickly learn Rogers true intentions at the wrong end of rifles. With Rackham in custody, he is brought to an old friend and the three men sit down for a discussion. A discussion about Anne.
The Story: Phillips injects this story with a lot of action and humor. The plot flows really well. There is some great dialogue between the characters and character moments that are engaging to the reader. I like the bigger role that Mary is playing in events, but Anne continues to be the most compelling character so far. The mystery is expanded and new wrinkles in it are keeping me interested in where the story goes next.
The Art: Craig Cermak delivers some impressive imagery in this issue. Everything is done with great detail from the characters to the beautifully drawn ships and backgrounds.
