Another adaptation of one of the king of horror’s works is coming to the screen with the reveal that 20th Century Studios and HULU are adapting Stephen King’s short story The Boogeyman as a feature film.

According to Details, not only is the story being adapted, but the studio has already teamed with 21 Laps to produce the film. Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps will produce and the project is set to begin production next month. Rob Savage (Dashcam) will direct the feature starring Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets) and Chris Messina (Birds of Prey, Sharp Objects).

First published in 1978, The Boogeyman was featured in the short story collection Night Shift. Other stories in that collection include Sometimes They Come Back, Children of the Corn, The Mangler and more. The Boogeyman story centers on a man going to see his psychiatrist and revealing how each of his children were murdered by the supernatural ‘Boogeyman’. The film will expand on the story putting a teenage girl in the lead as protagonist and having her and her brother fighting to survive the sadistic presence.

No release date has been given.
